You could access funding for research and development projects for your fisheries operation, for example:

  • Recovery of discards
  • Alternative harvesting and processing technology
  • Quality assurance initiatives

There are funding opportunities with traditional species (groundfish, crab, shrimp, seal, herring, mackerel), non-traditional species (sea cucumber, hagfish) and by-products (ensiled feeds, chitin/chitosan derivatives).

You could receive up to 60% of eligible expenses to a maximum of $100,000 per project. Departmentally-initiated projects may be funded to 100%.
