Hello Muhammad,

When starting a business, keep in mind that one of the best courses of action you can take is to develop a business plan. The Business Planning section is a great place for you to start mapping out your plan.

There is a lot of work to be done, but our section on Starting a Business can help answer many of your questions. We also have a section on Regulations, Licences and Permits, so you can do a search on the requirements for your industry.

Another key consideration is financing: how will you give your business the financial kick-start it will need to enter a competitive marketplace? Our Grants and Finances section is an excellent place to search for resources. Here you can view or search for financing programs offered by governments by selecting parameters such as your industry, your location, your demographic group and/or the reason you are looking for financing.

If you have any further questions, contact the service centre in your province or territory or call toll free 1-888-576-4444 (TTY 1-800-457-8466).

Best of luck!

Hello,
I already have a business plan, and have started my business as a marriage and family therapist. I would love to get a grant but all the grants seem to be aimed at businesses that involve technologies. Are there grants for those in the mental health sector? How can I give my business a financial kick-start it needs to enter a competitive marketplace?

What marketing do you offer?
Thank you

Hi Nataxja,

There are a number of resources you can look into for financing.

Our Grants and Finances section is an excellent place to start your search. Within this section, you can view or search financing programs offered by governments by selecting parameters such as your industry, your location, your demographic group and/or the reason you are looking for financing. The section also links to some community-based and private sector financing resources.

If you are still having difficulty finding business financing, you can contact  the Canada Business service centre in your region for further assistance.

For information on marketing, visit our Marketing and Sales section.

Best of luck with your practice!
